Crocus, daffodils…, sure! But…

Little Blue House Spells Summer In Gloucester!

… the truest sign that the “season” is here is the little blue house-boat floating on the river across from Sudbay Motors on the way into Gloucester on Route 128.

Little Blue HouseBoat Opens The 2013 Gloucester Gallery Season

Like other New England signs of summer soon-arriving, like the ice-out on the northern lakes, once the houseboat is floating in position – summer CAN NOT be far away! Check it out on your way to Rocky Neck over Memorial Day weekend or sometime this summer!

Guatopo Design To Debut At Aquatro Gallery On Rocky Neck This Summer !!!

I almost cannot believe it! We are only three weeks away from the grand opening of the Aquatro Gallery.

We will showcase the gorgeous Amore jewelry made by my partner, Grace Edwards, and a lovely selection of my fine art pieces; and there is dazzling variety since I’ve been using all the new techniques I’ve been working on since last summer: Things are coming together beautifully; not only does the gallery look fantastic with its “Rocky Neck meets the Caribbean”; but what thrills me most is the phenomenal production for the launching of Guatopo; the line of textile and surface design Stevie Black and I created. I absolutely love the sofa pillows. For this first season, we have a very limited number of these exclusive pillows and they are simply gorgeous – generously sized and designed to minimize the “rabbit ear” effect that I so dislike in some pillow covers; each one of them is hand-decorated with a combination of painting and stamping.

For the pillows and the works on wood, I use several of the many original rubber stamps I created after taking a week-long – and truly inspiring – intensive workshop with Sigrid Olsen at Montserrat College of Art last June. Some of the wooden pieces available for purchase are enchanting little balsa wood animals made by indigenous craftspeople in the Venezuelan Amazon, while others are more traditional items like boxes and mirrors. All are beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces. We’ll have photos soon, so check back with us!

I also cooked up some little gems for your fridge or metallic memo board. Made with glass cabochons that magnify the original miniature paintings that are sandwiched between the glass and scalloped bezel cups, the playful little pieces look like Faberge eggs gone rogue. You’ll have to swing back here for examples !

I must confess though; what has become an obsession is the painting of silk scarves and I will be setting up at Aquatro to continue getting my daily creative fix and produce more of these marvelously airy pieces of art you can adorn yourself with. Check out the blog posts that show some of them as they progress and more blogs to come featuring other artworks. See you at Aquatro starting on May 25th when we kick off the season with a little reception from 6-9 pm… and YOU ARE INVITED! Find the event on Facebook and let us know if you’ll be coming by for the Aquatro Gallery Grand Opening!
